    Correspondence of the various members of the Anderson family, particularly Richard Clough Anderson, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, as well as Richard Clough Anderson, Sr. and his sons Charles, Robert (1805-1871) (of Ft. Sumter fame), and Larz (1803-1878), a capitalist and a prominent citizen of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also included correspondence of the Clark and Gwathmey families. Subject matter includes real estate transactions, legislation, and land speculation in Kentucky; Louisville and Kentucky politics; Ohio politics and government, especially during the Civil War; relations between Colombia and the U.S.; antislavery sentiment; the Civil War Correspondents include Richards Clough Anderson, Sr., Robert Anderson, Charles Anderson, Larz Anderson, John Jordan Crittenden and John Sherman.
