This is an disbound photograph album documenting the "Grand Canyon of Arizona" exhibit at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 built by the Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The photographs depict the massive replica of the Grand Canyon that was built for the Exposition as well as views of Native American village replicas. The exhibit included views of Indigenous people weaving baskets and other fabrics, decorating pottery, and silversmithing. One photograph shows an advertisement for the exhibit on Market Street in San Francisco. Some handwritten captions are included, and the prints are possibly matte collodion. The cover has the following title and attribution embossed on it: "A Record in Light and Shade: Born in Thought, Lives in Memory. Designed and Built by William F. Sesser." It is unclear if Sesser took the photographs, compiled the album, helped to build the exhibit, or performed all three roles.
