Fishkill Landing Machine Company ledgers
Manuscripts
Two autograph ledgers belonging to John Van Tine and John H. Van Tine, machinists at the Fishkill Landing Machine Company. Volume 1, dated 1853-1909, is labeled: "Record of Steam Engines Built By the Fishkill Landing Machine Co." The volume contains information regarding the year of sale of engines, sold to which company, type of engine, etc. Volume 2, dated 1886-1894, contains autograph drawings, illustrations and notes by John Van Tine, whose name is written on the inside front cover, relating to the parts and installation of various engines for various buyers. Both volumes have loose spines and the pages show some wear and staining from being used as reference books for the machinists. Also enclosed are three pieces of ephemera: a printed letterhead with autograph notes on the verso, a typewritten letter with envelope addressed to George B. Van Tine, Jan. 2, 1940 and a typewritten "List of 16 x 36 Fishkill Engines as listed in small black books over desk," Jan. 6, 1940.
