This collection is divided into two main parts, both arranged chronologically: Documents and Correspondence. Both series relate to the Wiley Gold Mining Company. James Thompson's name or signature appears on a majority of the documents. The documents include stock certificates, indentures, mining claim agreements, certificates of location and labor, company by-laws, warranty deeds, and receipts between various members of the company, and they are drawn in Lida, Nevada; Kansas City, Missouri; and Phoenix, Arizona. With documents that contain more than one date, the date of signature is used in cataloging. The correspondence includes business letters between employees of the company, as well as letters from officers of the company to potential investors. Several of the letters also include bills for supplies, expenses, and labor. The correspondence contains letters from Big Pine, California; Kansas City, Missouri; Lida, Nevada; and Phoenix, Arizona.
