John Thomas Doyle deposition on the Pious Fund
Manuscripts
Deposition of John Thomas Doyle regarding his participation in the legal proceedings surrounding Mexican payments to the Catholic Church under the stipulations of the Pious Fund of the Californias. Doyle's deposition centers around the contract for legal services he and William M. Stewart made with Patrick W. Riordan (Archbishop of San Francisco) and Francis Mora (Bishop of Monterey). He also writes of his services at The Hague and of disputes over fees and charges stemming from The Hague hearings, particularly regarding the claims of the Chevalier Descamps. Also includes a copy of the contract between Doyle and Steward made with Riordan and Mora.
