Doyle's deposition centers around the contract for legal services he and William M. Stewart made with Patrick W. Riordan (Archbishop of San Francisco) and Francis Mora (Bishop of Monterey). He also writes of his services at The Hague and of disputes over fees and charges stemming from The Hague hearings, particularly regarding the claims of the Chevalier Descamps.
