    429 stereographs by photographers George Wharton James and G. L. Rose of the American Southwest with images of Native Americans, including Cahuilla Indians, and scenes in California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Views of Hopi and Pueblo Indians of Arizona and New Mexico (many scenes at Acoma Pueblo); portraits of Hualapai Indians and school children in Arizona; canyons and landscape of the Southwest, including the Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest. Notable in the collection are G. W. James's photographs of the Cahuilla Indian woman "Ramona" speaking into his phonograph, and other Cahuilla scenes published in his book "Through Ramona's Country." Other views in Southern California include the Plaza Church, Los Angeles; Mount Lowe railway and Alpine Tavern; San Juan Capistrano Mission; agriculture and farming in Riverside County, including fruit packing for the "Hemet Fruit Association"; Flores Adobe, South Pasadena; many views of Yosemite and horse and coach travelers; Mariposa Grove; camping wagons; hotel in Sonora, California. G. W. James appears in a few views; as does Horatio N. Rust and William W. Bass, trail builder in Grand Canyon.
