The letters, chiefly addressed to Ames, deal with the sale of stock, railroad mergers, etc. Included are items relating to the Union Pacific Railroad; Central Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad; Union Pacific Railway Company; Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway Company; New Orleans, Mobile and Texas Railroad Company; and a brokerage firm Pickering & Mosely. The papers also deal with the estate of Oliver Ames and his father Oakes Ames. There is also correspondence by American financier Samuel Carr.
