Map of the gold regions of California : compiled from original surveys / by James Wyld, Geographer to the Queen & Prince Albert
Rare Books
Alternate title from cover. Wyld has compiled a number of other maps and surveys, some rather inaccurate. Only lists 26 counties, but there were 27 when the state was divided in 1850; Napa and Colusi are combined in what was actually just Napa County. Los Angeles County is mentioned in the list, but Santa Barbara County seems to extend to the San Diego County border. Santa Cruz is called "Branciforte," it's original name, which was changed only 2 months after its founding. Merced and Mariposa are pointed out by MS additions. Tahoe is labeled Fremonts L. Sales sticker. Prime meridian: GM. Relief: hachures. Graphic Scale: Miles. Projection: Polyconic. Printing Process: Engraving. Verso Text: MS Notes: Maps 2.00 49-100. Sales sticker.
