This is a 17th century copy of a manuscript by Valentin Boltz. The complete title is: "A limning boock, or a book setting forth of lively colours shewing how all sortes of colours are to be made and prepared, necessary and usefull for clarks, painters, and limners and well wishers to the art of painting or limning. Annexed thereunto some new artificiall experiments, never yet published in print." On the title page the author's name reads: "Valentine Poltzen von Rufach."
