"The Washington Colony was inaugurated in February, 1878, with five sections of land, Lots 1 to 176, inclusive, which sold so rapidly that the company has added six additional sections, adjoining, of equally good first quality land, Lots 177 to 348, inclusive, this April, 1879." A four page newspaper describing "The Washington Irrigated Colony" in great depth. Centered on the town of Covell, a birds-eye view on the first page along with a greatly distorted submap of California act as inducements for buyers. The offices of the colony are in San Francisco. The colony map is on page four. This appears to now be the town of Easton. Submaps: Birds-eye view; Southern California; Map of the town of Covell. Prime meridian: GM. Relief: no.
