A second friendly epistle to Mr. George Keith, : and the reformed Quakers. Who are now convinc'd, that water baptism is an ordinance of Christ, to continue to the end of the world. But are enquiring about the mode, and form of administration; whether by effusion or plunging. Wherein is proved, (with the approbation of some of the most learned divines in London) I. That John the Baptist, and Peter the Apostle, declare that they plunged not. II. That plunging is contrary to the doctrin of baptism; and therefore is no lawful baptism. III. That if plunging were a duty, and commanded by Christ, our brethren the Anabaptist practise it not, and so are self-condemned on their own principles.
