A collection of material related to Benson John Lossing; the collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, diaries, notebooks, drawings, photographs, and ephemera. The correspondence includes letters written by Lossing, many illustrated with sketches, which he wrote to his family during his travels in preparation for his "Pictorial Field Book of the Revolution." There are also letters by Lossing, chiefly retained copies, to his scholarly associates and publishers. The miscellaneous material includes printed biographical pamphlets, a small scrapbook related to Lossing, genealogical materials concerning the Lossing and other related families, photographs, newspaper clippings, forms, and other ephemera. The collection also includes some unidentified and uncataloged manuscripts, drawings, photographs, sketches, notes, and ephemera.

Collection consists mainly of correspondence from the period 1910-14, beginning when Oddie initiated his campaign for governor and ending when he was about to terminate his administration. The correspondence is arranged in 19 boxes in alphabetical order by author. There are also 6 boxes and 4 rolls of Nevada State papers, almost entirely copies of legislative bills for the year 1873, and a small number of documents from other years. Subjects include: mining, politics, and government in Nevada (including divorce laws), women's rights, the financial panic of 1907, the Progressive party, and the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915.

A collection of approximately 2,760 items which contains mostly documents and letters pertaining to mining in the Mormon Island area (1849-1871). The collection includes the activities of the American River Water and Mining Company and the Natoma Water and Mining Company. Also mentioned are Catlin's operation and association of the assay and banking firm of Palmer and Day.
