    Collection of military and political documents from Nuevo León

    Manuscripts

    This collection contains 136 letters, broadsides, circulars, blank government forms, and lithographs describing the political and military activities of the Mexican state Nuevo León from 1853 to 1878. Some of the people represented throughout the collection include Santiago Vidaurri, Ignacio Comonfort, Pedro de Ampudia, Jesús María Aguilar, Juan de Dios Villalon, and Julián Quiroga. The manuscripts and broadsides from the 1850s detail governmental policies and the administration of Nuevo León as well as military issues such as condemning deserters. Correspondence, circulars, and proclamations during the 1860s include information about the intensity of the revolution, economic hardships, political elections, changing laws, taxes, commerce, changing political leadership, and military routes. There are two lithographs, the first depicts Maximilian I and his wife Charlotte of Belgium, and the second is titled Last Moments of Maximilian, Emperor of Mexico.
