This collection contains a box of twenty-two glass plate negatives depicting various locations in Monrovia, California, and unidentified mountains presumably in Southern California. Includes single images of four different houses in Monrovia, the Pottenger Sanatorium, unidentified individuals in the mountains. Also includes copy prints, which can be paged.

This collection consists of pages of a disbound photograph album containing 32 various-sized snapshots related to travel by the Letchworth Family in Southern California in 1906. The images, accompanied by handwritten captions, include views of Eagle Rock, Pasadena, Las Casitas in Ventura, and the Miramar Inn in Santa Barbara, California, as well as four images of "Mr. Howard and his Burrows coming from Death Valley." The images include landscape views of Southern California canyons, hillsides, and ranch lands; horseback riding, hotel buildings, and two Native Americans. The images are mounted on seven disbound scrapbook pages from a photograph album. 15 of the images are 3 3/4 x 12 inch panoramas. The collection also contains one loose 6 x 8 inch gelatin silver print showing members of an audience in a grandstand during a March 1906 horse show in Pasadena (Item 33).

The collection contains letters, documents, manuscripts, maps, clippings and photographs related to California history, especially that of the San Bernardino County region. There are also materials related to Mormon pioneers in the San Bernardino Valley and education in the Philippine Islands. Most of the items in the collection are secondary source materials gathered by the Beatties in the course of their research on California history.

Manuscripts
Collection of maps surveyed for the Los Angeles County Assessor's Office between 1860 and 1897. The maps primarily focus on excavations, improvements, and expansions of roads throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Orange Counties, with geographic coverage ranging from Malibu to Pomona and Newhall to San Juan Capistrano. Most of the maps show boundary lines of the various Ranchos existent throughout these counties, and many also include buildings, railroads, telegraph lines, land use, relief, and elements of the natural landscape such as canyons and rivers. Also included are maps showing the San Gabriel Mission, San Juan Capistrano Mission, and an elevation of the Los Angeles County court house. Some of the Ranchos depicted include San Antonio, Azusa, San Jose, Los Nogales, San Pedro, San Joaquin, San Rafael, Centinela, La Puente, Sausal Redondo, La Ballona, Rodeo-de-las-Aguas, Cienega, San Pasqual, and San Francisquito. Property shown includes that of Elias 'Lucky' Baldwin, Pio Pico, and Abel Stearns. The maps were originally housed in 16 bound volumes.
