    Rare Books

    Amateur press publications totaling 67 items. Collected by Rosalie and Wayne T. McVay, the collection features journal and magazine publications from several amateur presses from across the United States published between 1892 to 1997. The publications are mostly represented by scattered issues. "The Californian" [Pomona, California], edited by Hyman Bradosfsky and "The scarlet cockerel" have the largest representation with 15 and 8 issues respectively. "The Californian" also contains "Heritage of modernism," "Some notes on interplanetary fiction," "Literary review," "By post from Providence" and "Group of poems" by H.P. Lovecraft as well as a piece by Frank Belknap Long. "The national amateur" contains "Some current amateur verse" and a report co-signed by Lovecraft. Two numbers of Haldeman-Julius' "Little Blue Book" series are also represented in this collection.
