William H. Pilliner family photograph albums
Visual Materials
Two photograph albums of Pilliner family and other portraits, chiefly taken by William H. Pilliner, an early photographer in the American West. Subjects include Pilliner, his wife Eliza Jane (McGuire) Pilliner, members of the Pilliner and McGuire families, and associates. One album contains cartes-de-visite and tintypes, the other is larger, containing mostly cabinet card photographs. The images date from approximately 1870s to 1902, and some are inscribed. The collection also includes a typescript by Cornelia Elizabeth McGuire (Eliza Jane's sister) of the McGuire family genealogy from 1700 to the mid-1900s, and a typescript of W. H. Pilliner's biography. One photograph depicts G. W. Jenkins and I. N. McGuire, the proprietors of the Santa Maria Times, superimposed over a photograph of the newspaper. Some imprints on the images say "W. H. Pilliner, Pioneer Artist" and studio locations include Reno and Idaho Falls. There are also a few photographs by Piggott & Shaw of Santa Rosa, California.

Personal and business papers of George Smith Patton, Sr., and his family including wife Ruth Wilson Patton, son General George S. Patton, and daughter Anne Wilson Patton. The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, receipts, tax documents, estate papers, maps, photographs, ephemera, etc. There is some General George S. Patton related material in the collection; most of which is in the Anne Wilson Patton series (finance documents). Box 42 contains correspondence by General George S. Patton (photocopies), his wife Beatrice, and their children. The collection also contains several photographs of General George S. Patton. There is some information amongst the real estate-related papers about racial restrictions in the San Gabriel Valley.

Manuscripts
A collection of 454 items from 1840 to 1891, which contains personal and professional correspondence of Charles P. S. Wardwell. Correspondents include his wife Marcia P. Wardwell, brothers, parents, and other family members, friends and business associates. The letters discuss family matters, including personal, social, religious, and professional lives of various family members. Subjects also include political news; everyday life, primarily in New England; as well as Wardwell's various inventions and patents. Included are letters describing Page's Oar Factory at Coaticook, Quebec (1859); emigration; working conditions; wages; and social life of miners in California during the Gold Rush; the Civil War; and Freedmen. Also included is a diary of William H. Wardwell covering November 1855 to December 1856 and letters addressed to Marcia P. Wardwell from her sisters.

A collection of approximately 2,100 items from 1853 to 1946, which contains letters, manuscripts, 39 diaries, documents, and drawings related to the life and activities of William Henry Weinland, Caroline Yost Weinland, and the extended Weinland family. The materials focus on their missionary work for the Moravian Church in Alaska and on the Morongo Indian Reservation near Banning, California. Correspondents represented in the collection include Samuel M. Brosius (writing on behalf of the Indian Rights Association), Paul De Schweinitz, and Amelia Stone Quinton. Two separate series in the collection include the Rock family letters from 1911 to 1916, which were written from an Alaskan mission, and the Gilman family papers from 1853 to 1946, which include correspondence, land papers, and historical notes on the Banning area. The collection also includes two boxes of uncataloged addenda.
