Visual Materials
The Jonathan D. Bulkley collection of illustrated billheads and letterheads contains about 36,000 billheads, letterheads, flyers, and other ephemera relating to commerce and industry in the United States from 1758 to 1952, with the bulk of the items dating from 1840 to 1910. While most of the items document products or services manufactured by American companies, countries such as Cuba, France, Great Britain, Germany, and Mexico are represented as well. Imagery and text on the materials pertain to the history of production, finance, consumerism, and advertising. Many of the items include graphic logos, decorative images of views of storefronts and factories, and detailed representations of the various products manufactured for sale. Typography on the materials also include visual motifs of varying text styles and printing techniques. The collection contains items that are both engraved, as well as lithographed. Manuscripts
There are 8,002 pieces of manuscripts, 6,044 of which are by Annie C. Bill. The manuscripts comprise of articles, drafts, essays, excerpts, notebooks, proofs, speeches, statements, and miscellaneous notes. There are 7,218 pieces of correspondence, 1,629 of which are by Annie C. Bill; most of her correspondence comprises of incomplete drafts of letters. The majority of the correspondence includes letters by her publisher, A.A. Beauchamp, Deputy Advisor, John V. Dittemore, officers, and students relating to her religious movement. There are 2,129 pieces of ephemera, the majority being related to Annie C. Bill. The first part of the ephemera is applications, brochures, fliers, and tracts that are arranged according to Bill's religious organization that she joined or led. The remaining ephemera consists of an appointment book, British Museum copyright receipts, Bill's British passport, calling cards, circular letters, empty envelopes, financial records, a greeting card, Kelly's Directors LTD., legal documents, miscellaneous ephemera, newspaper clippings, periodicals, photographs, postcards, and reprints.

Manuscripts
The collection contains 1,384 letters, written by 158 different authors, and 33 pieces of ephemera. The collection spans several generations of the Guernsey and Donaldson families. The letters give a detailed account of the lives of farmers, millers, shop keepers, and school teachers in 19th century Midwestern America. The letters cover a wide range of aspects of their lives, such as family events, day-to-day activities, trips to visit family and friends, farming, financial hardships, and business interests. Because the majority of the correspondence was written by women, the letters also give a strong female perspective of life on the frontier. The collection includes over 250 letters of Civil War interest written by Emeline's sons William and Henry. The ephemera consists of biographical information, Confederate currency, printed materials, and three photographs.
