A collection of excerpts relating to California extracted from "Chambers's journal" between 1849 to 1857. The journal had several name and imprint changes over the course of its publication from 1832 to 1956. The periodical was titled "Chambers's Edinburgh journal" from 1832-1853 and "Chambers's journal of popular literature, science and arts" from 1854-1897.
