A collection of 850 items from 1849 to 1903; the collection chiefly contains drafts of his dispatches to the Department of State sent during his tenure as U.S. military attacȟ in Madrid, Spain. Also included are reports on the Spanish military and diplomatic establishment, information about the Spanish forces in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. The collection also contains a small amount of biographical material, family correspondence, and California land papers relating to the affairs of Peshine's father-in-law, Dr. James L. Ord.
