An ordinance of His Excellency Edward Viscount Cornbury captain general and governour in chief of the provinces of New-York, New-Jersey, and of all the territories and tracts of land depending thereon in Amrrica [sic], and vice-admiral of the same, &c. in Council this fourteenth day of April, 1705. : Whereas the Court of Admiralty in the province of New-York has been found to be a great discouragement to privateers (which prevents the security of our coasts, and prejudices our trade) and likewise to be very burthensom and grievous to all merchants and owners of vessels
