Jose Vincente St. Vrain letter to Ulysses Mercur

Letter from Vincente St. Vrain in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Ulysses Mercur, a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania and the Chairman of the House Committee on Private Land Claims. St. Vrain writes as an heir of his father's estate about claims to the Las Animas land grant in New Mexico. St. Vrain provides a history of ownership of the property and asks Mercur for "authority to institute suit against the United States...for a full and final hearing, and adjudication of their titles, and their rights, to said property."
