The 19th century material includes correspondence and documents related to, among others, the American and British politicians and historians, George Bancroft, John Bright, Richard Cobden, John Davis, Charles William Eliot, Henry Hallam, Anthony Ashley Cooper (Earl of Shaftesbury), Robert Cecil (Marquess of Salisbury), and Robert Winthrop. The 20th century material includes correspondence by Charles Edward Chapman, Joseph Hodges Choate, Max Farrand, Hiram Johnson, Louis Knott Koontz, Robert Andrews Millikan, Frederic Lgan Paxson, and Frederick jackson Turner.
