This collection contains the papers of naval architect, artist, and interior designer Jack Heaney primarily related to projects Heaney worked on in the mid 20th century at the New York City marine design and naval architectural firm of George G. Sharp Inc., and later at Jack Heaney and Associates. The bulk of the collection dates from the late 1930s to the 1960s and includes both professional and project records primarily reflecting Heaney's design work for cargo-passenger vessels, and some personal documents. The professional and project records in the collection includes design renderings and drawings of ship exteriors, interiors, furniture, and fixtures; photographs primarily of ship interiors; miscellaneous ephemera, often with graphic components by Heaney; publications and clippings profiling Heaney's work; and some miscellaneous correspondence. The largest section relates to the first nuclear cargo ship, the NS Savannah. Other ships and ship lines represented include the Robin Line, Delta Line, American President Lines, Great Lakes Ore Carriers, SS Aquarama, Gulf and South American Steamship, and the Farrell Lines. While most of the collection concerns Heaney's work, the Staten Island Ferries series also includes correspondence related to JoAnne Heaney's interior design work on the project in the late 1970s. The materials also include twelve of the first issues of Harmony in G. Sharp, the George G. Sharp firm's in-house magazine dating from the mid 1940s. The personal papers include three shipbuilding books and a notebook used by Heaney as a student; six pieces of student artwork dating from 1924 to 1926; and some additional postcards and pieces of ephemera.

Manuscripts
The collection consists of the personal and business papers of Henry E. Huntington. There is material related to the Huntington, Holladay, and Metcalf families, but most of the collection deals with Huntington's business interests in Southern California, railways, real estate, and industry. Series 2. Henry E. Huntington and his family includes biographical information, newspaper clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, ephemera, and physical objects. There is material related to the Huntington Land and Improvement Company, Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, and the Pacific Electric Railway Company as well as other businesses in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Gabriel Valley, California. This material includes business records, account books, annual reports, correspondence, maps, tracts, balance sheets, and others. There is also material related to the founding of the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens including auction catalogs, invoices, receipts, and bills for art and rare books, and information regarding a lawsuit about Huntington's estate tax after his death, and the passing of Proposition 15, in 1930, which exempted The Huntington from paying California property tax. There is also material related to Collis P. Huntington and his business interests and Arabella Huntington. Also included are the blueprints for the Huntington's San Marino residence. Series 3. Correspondence contains over 22,000 pieces of personal and business correspondence spanning 1794 to 1970. The physical objects include Henry E. Huntington's lunch box, razors, traveling trunk, and other items.

The collection consists of letters, manuscripts (including diaries and scientific reports), documents and photographs related to the life and interests of geologist Bailey Willis. Subject matter includes: the work, travels and family of Bailey Willis; geology, especially earthquakes; scientists and scientific institutions. There are also early photographs of China (1903-04) and Argentina (1911-13). Persons represented by over twenty pieces in the collection include: Charles Peter Berkey, Eliot Blackwelder, Rollin Thomas Chamberlin, Thomas Chrowder Chamberlin, Arthur Louis Day, Frederick Putnam Gulliver, Charles Willard Hayes, Stephen Joseph Kubel, Henry Fairfield Osborn, Albrecht Penck, Raphael Pumpelly, Rollin D. Salisbury, Charles Schuchert, George Otis Smith, George Willis Stose, Charles Richard Van Hise, Charles Doolittle Walcott, Bailey Willis, Cornelia Grinnell Willis, Margaret Delight Baker Willis, and Robert Simpson Woodward. Also present is a typscript letter signed from William H. Taft to Bailey Willis, 1908 December 12.
