- Provenance
- Purchased from A.S.W. Rosenbach, 1923. Numerous marginal ms. annotations and leaves of ms. text (bound before this work and between the two incunabula) by Johann Pilter, written approximately 1478-1480. Pilter also left his name at various places in the volume, including on leaf n7v, "Ego Iohannes pylter pro nunc possessor huius libri eundem illuminavi anno 1480 In Ieiunio quadragesimali deo gratias". This book was not among the books which Pilter left to Eberhardsklausen (Windesheim Congregation) and which passed to the Staatsbibliothek in Trier in 1802, since he gave it to a Franciscan of Hofgeismar (cf. ms. inscription at end of RB 103501), where it apparently remained until the secularization. Belonged to Leander van Ess; his initials in pale red ink on f. 3 of the manuscript. Sold by him to Sir Thomas Phillipps; with his shelfmark "119" on front pastedown.
