Sip of History: Love, Art, Champagne

Spring is in the air! Indulge your love of beauty–and all things French–by embarking on a multi-sensory journey at The Huntington. In a celebration of blossoming love and friendships, guests will listen to Renaissance love sonnets in the Shakespeare Garden with Shannon McHugh, Assistant Director of Research, take in art in the galleries with Maite Gomez-Rejón of ArtBites, and participate in a champagne tasting with Nicole Lalague, owner of Pasadena Wine Shop.
Join us and listen, view, and sip your way into the potent mix of writers, artists, patrons, and winemakers tied to The Huntington’s collections.

- Check in with Education staff at Admission window #10 beginning at 4:30 p.m.
- Registration includes free admission to The Huntington beginning at 2 p.m.

About the instructors:
Shannon McHugh is Assistant Director of Research at The Huntington. A scholar of Renaissance literature, she is author of Petrarch and the Making of Gender in Renaissance Italy and co-founder of the literary travel venture Well-Read Travelers.
Maite Gomez-Rejón, founder of ArtBites, explores the nexus of art and culinary history through lectures and cooking classes in museums across the country, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Museum. Maite co-hosts Hungry for History with Eva Longoria and Maite Gomez-Rejón. She was awarded a 2024 Latino Spirit Award by the California Legislative Caucus. Born and raised in Laredo, TX, Maite has a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin, an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Grand Diplome from The French Culinary Institute in New York City.
Nicole Lalague is Owner + Head Sommelier of Pasadena Wine Shop.
