Roots of Diversity: A Botanical Journey Through the Middle East
Event
Join Ori Fragman-Sapir—botanist, conservationist, and director of the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens—for an exploration of one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.
Lectures
Fragman-Sapir will guide guests through the Middle East’s varied landscapes—from Israel, Egypt, and Jordan to the Mediterranean mountains, coastal plains, and extreme desert. He will also share an inside look at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens, the largest botanical garden in the region. Drawing on decades of conservation work, Fragman-Sapir will highlight efforts to protect rare and endangered plant species. His projects, developed in collaboration with government agencies, environmental organizations, and local communities, focus on safeguarding plant biodiversity and restoring fragile habitats.
