Join Craig Santos Perez, adjunct faculty member in ethnic studies at MiraCosta College, for a lecture that dives into The Huntington's archive of rare books and maps.
Lectures
In this lecture, Perez will discuss his in-progress monograph, Pacific Islander Eco-Poetry: Indigenous Knowledge, Environmental Justice, and Climate Change. He will also highlight several of the collections and archival materials that he engages with while at The Huntington, including maps of the Pacific islands and ocean, as well as sources related to Hawaiʻi, Guam, Samoa, and the Marshall Islands.
This is the Avery Distinguished Fellow Lecture and is part of The Huntington Research 2025-2026 "Active in the Archive" lecture series.

- A pre-lecture reception will take place in front of the lecture hall at the Rose Hills Foundation Garden Court at 5:45 p.m.
- Doors to the lecture hall will open at 6 p.m.
- If you are visiting the gardens during the day and plan to stay for the lecture, please note that all guests must clear the grounds when The Huntington closes at 5 p.m.
