Join docents from the Gamble House in Pasadena as they explore the impact Japan and China had on the design work of Charles and Henry Greene
Lectures
Charles and Henry Greene never traveled to Asia, but the arts and architecture of Japan and China had a profound impact on their design work. How would the Greenes and other early 20th century designers in the U.S. be exposed to Asian design traditions? How do we see these influences manifest in what the Greenes created for their clients? Using examples in the gallery, Gamble House docents will guide visitors on an exploration of this important theme in the work of Greene & Greene. Informal talks will take place at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
