Join Nova Community Arts to learn the basics of embroidery in this hands-on, floral-inspired embroidery workshop.
Classes

Make a custom floral design on a cotton handkerchief, inspired by the flowers and greenery found throughout The Huntington’s many gardens. In this two-hour workshop, participants will learn and practice several versatile embroidery stitches; pattern drafting and transferring; setting up thread; and preparing an embroidery hoop.

A cotton bandana will be provided, but you may also bring your own plain, lightweight cotton item to embroider, such as a t-shirt, tote bag, or jacket.

  • Suitable for all levels; no previous experience necessary.
  • This class is great for teens and adults. Teens under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • All supplies and materials are included.

Day of Program

  • Check in with Education staff at Admission window #10.
  • Registration includes free admission to The Huntington following the class.

About the Instructors

Nova Community Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art studio in Los Angeles that offers art classes, workshops, open studio access, and guest programming. Located in Atwater Village, Nova is committed to providing arts education, access to materials and equipment, and a platform of creative expression for the community, including students, professionals, and amateurs. The art studio is dedicated to serving underfunded populations in Los Angeles and providing inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.

  • Tickets are not sold at the door for this event.
  • To join the waitlist for this event, please email publicprograms@huntington.org. A space is not guaranteed, but you will be contacted if a space becomes available.
  • To receive a refund, you must cancel at least 5 days prior to the event. Cancellations made within 5 days of the event will not be refunded.
  • Members may receive a discount for up to two tickets.
