Rose Garden
Learn techniques used to keep The Huntington’s world-renowned rose collection healthy, vibrant, and blooming year after year.
Participants will learn:
- How and when to prune for shape, vigor, and bloom production
- Proper tool use and maintenance (pruners provided with registration)
- Strategies for managing old growth and encouraging new shoots
- Tips for winter cleanup and soil care to prepare for spring
This interactive session includes live demonstrations with Reid, head gardener and assistant curator of the Rose Garden, and time for a Q&A in the garden. The workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned rose enthusiasts alike.

Key Details
- Registration includes a FELCO 2 pruner to take home.
- Participants must bring their own gardening gloves.
- Suitable for all levels; no previous experience is necessary.
- Please note: Registration does not include general admission to The Huntington or a discount for Members. The Huntington is closed to the public on Tuesdays, but program participants are allowed access to the event.
- Check in with Education staff at Admission window #10 at 8:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m., depending on class time.
