Lectures
Join Roy Ritchie, Huntington senior research associate, for a four-part lecture series that begins by examining the art and architecture of the Revolution and Early Republic. The talks will then move on to consider topics including landscape, genre and history painting as American artists struggled to create a distinctive American art separate from the greater European metropolitan art scene. Ritchie also reflects on how the art market was evolving up to about 1860. This is a four-part series at 10 a.m. to noon on consecutive Saturdays: Sept. 21, 28 & Oct. 5, 12.
