Sophia Quach McCabe is the curatorial research associate of American art at The Huntington, where she supports exhibitions and the development of the collections.

She received her Ph.D. in 2019 from the University of California, Santa Barbara, specializing in cultural exchanges and networks. Prior to joining The Huntington in 2025, McCabe held positions in museums and academia, including the Getty Research Institute; the Art, Design & Architecture Museum at UC Santa Barbara; and California State University, Long Beach. She also completed predoctoral fellowships supported by the German-American Fulbright Commission and the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.

McCabe has curated and co-curated exhibitions on women’s empowerment, Asian American art, and Renaissance travel and exchange, including Harmonia Rosales: Entwined, (Art, Design & Architecture Museum), On Famous Women: 1400–1700 (Art, Design & Architecture Museum), and Albrecht Dürer: Wanderlust (The Huntington). She has published and lectured widely on European, American, and contemporary art and is currently working on exhibitions and collaborative projects across The Huntington’s collecting areas.
