Specialty Tour FAQs

What if it rains?
Specialty Tours are held rain or shine. Though rain is infrequent, tours take place outdoors so dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if needed.

How much walking is involved?
Specialty Tours include moderate walking and some slight elevations. Some paths are uneven or unpaved, and there is limited seating on tours, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Stairs are avoided when an impediment for guests.

Can we continue to explore after the tour is over?
Yes! Specialty Tour tickets include general admission. Guests are invited to explore the gardens, galleries, and special exhibitions after the tour.

Are Specialty Tours appropriate for children?
Yes. Reduced pricing is available for children ages 4-11 for all Specialty Tours. Specialty Tours are not recommended for children under 4 years of age. These tours are geared toward adult audiences and may occur in the morning prior to public hours, requiring participants to stay with their docent during non-public hours. We recommend families with small children visit during public hours.

Are Specialty Tours accessible for visitors with mobility impairments?
Yes. All buildings and most garden areas are accessible to visitors with mobility impairments. Wheelchairs are available for loan at the entrance on a first come, first served basis, or you are welcome to bring your own wheelchair or motorized scooter.

What is the difference between Specialty Tours and free garden tours?
Free garden tours are available with general admission; tour schedule varies and is dependent on docent availability. Specialty Tours are booked in advance with time and dates guaranteed, include the overall estate, and may begin during pre-public hours so guests get an extended day to explore The Huntington.
