John Trager, curator of desert collections at The Huntington, gives a slide presentation about his 2015 trip to South Africa's Western Cape and Northern Cape provinces, the native habitat of many winter-growing succulents seen in Desert Garden. The expedition spanned the provinces' winter rainfall regions from Cape Town in the southwest to the drier desert of the Richtersveld in the north, with many stops along the way to photograph aloes, crassulas, mesembs, and other succulents. A plant sale follows the talk.
