LIBRARY, ART COLLECTIONS, AND BOTANICAL GARDENS
"Boys, I believe I
have found a gold mine!" With these simple words, James W. Marshall
set the California Gold Rush in motiona chain of events that would shape
California and the American West.
This Web presentation of
the Huntington Library's remarkable collection of Gold Rush manuscripts,
drawings, and rare printed materials allows the people involved to tell
you their own true stories and bring this unique event to life. Begin
the adventure!
The Land of Golden Dreams
exhibition was created by the Huntington Library and will be on view from
September 28, 1999, through September 10, 2000. This Web presentation has
been made possible by a grant through the California State Library from
the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the
Library Services and Technology Act.
