Resources for Teachers
Classroom teachers are a priority at The Huntington. Our goal is to help teachers use The Huntington's extensive resources to augment and complement their classroom curriculum, and to meet local, state, and national academic standards in a variety of subjects. We provide field trips, workshops, institutes, and online lesson plans and other materials, nearly all of which are offered free of charge. Salary point credit is also made available whenever possible.

A unique, two-week institute designed primarily for secondary teachers of English and Drama, Shakespeare at The Huntington focuses on teaching Shakespeare through performance, and features an international faculty of scholars, educators and theatre professionals.

The Huntington offers a number of different school programs free of charge. These programs are held during non-public, morning hours and are led by volunteer docent teachers who guide the students in interactive explorations of The Huntington's treasures. Learn more about

The Huntington provides more than 75
lesson plans online to K-12 teachers at no charge. The lesson plans feature objects and documents from The Huntington's collections, are inquiry-based, and linked to various academic standards.

The Huntington has the following programs available for high school teachers:
- Grounding in Botany - Funded by the National Science Foundation and
Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, this program builds botanical
knowledge for use with Wisconsin Fast Plants lessons
- Teaching American History - Department of Education program to improve students' knowledge of American history
