Huntington Arboreal Recovery Project

Please help us ensure the future of this living legacy by making a gift to The Huntington’s Arboreal Recovery Project (HARP).

Many visitors treasure memories of strolling through The Huntington’s gardens and enjoying their majestic trees. From venerable oaks to stately pines, trees are essential to the beauty of any landscape, offering shade and habitat for people and wildlife. They are also integral to the health of the environment. A world without trees would be unendurable.

Recognizing the tremendous importance of our diverse tree collection, The Huntington diligently monitors and maintains its trees through even the most severe conditions, from the violent windstorms of 2011 to extended periods of drought. The torrential rains and heavy winds that battered Southern California this winter and spring were especially hard on The Huntington’s historic tree canopy.

Guests who come to our gardens seeking respite, restoration, and beauty discover the rich diversity represented by nearly a thousand tree species. This is why planting new trees as well as continuing to manage our mature tree canopy are among our highest priorities.
