A Clash of Empires: The Seven Years’ War and British America

“A Clash of Empires” examines the causes, course, and consequences of the conflict through the eyes of its many participants, publicly displaying for the first time materials from the Huntington Library’s vast collections documenting this turning point in modern history.

Acclaimed conductor and composer Huang Ruo and his musical ensemble Future In Reverse (FIRE) will present a multimedia performance of some of Huang Ruo’s captivating concert and film compositions, blending influences from both eastern and western culture. Huang Ruo has been cited by the New Yorker as “one of the most intriguing of the new crop of Asian-American composers.” His vibrant and inventive musical voice draws equal inspiration from Chinese folk, Western avant-garde, rock, and jazz to create a seamless, organic integration using a compositional technique he calls "dimensionalism." The Artistic Furniture of Charles Rohlfs

The first major exhibition of furniture and decorative art by the American craftsman and designer Charles Rohlfs, the show includes more than 40 pieces from 10 museums and several private collections to survey Rohlfs’ career as a furniture designer.
