Learn about the traditions of the Japanese “Way of Tea” and participate in an authentic tea ceremony in this unique cultural experience. Ninety-minute tours for small groups will be offered at intervals throughout the afternoon, starting in the Chinese Garden with a discussion of the origins of tea, continuing in the Japanese Garden with stops at the Japanese House and the new ceremonial teahouse, and culminating with a tea ceremony in the Zen Garden. $10 per person. (Note: For non-Members, general admission is a separate required cost, paid on entering the grounds.)

Drawn entirely from The Huntington’s collections of manuscripts and printed materials, this exhibition examines the ways Northerners and Southerners viewed the rationale for the Civil War, which made it, in the words of one war veteran, “a battle of ideas interrupted by artillery.”
