Echinopsis 'Celeste'
Flower symmetrical,
to nearly 5 ½ inches (13.5 cm) across. Petals ovate, mucronate,
ruffled, bicolored light pink with a dark midrib and pastel yellow at
base. Filaments, throat-circle and stigma white. Stem globular, to 4
inches (10 cm) in diameter; central spines to nearly 7/8 inch (23 mm)
in length. The name of this hybrid means "heavenly", as in
the aria Celeste Aida from the opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi.
