The Archives of American Art west coast office, previously located in The Huntington's Virginia Steele Scott Gallery of American Art, was closed by the central administration of the Archives in Washington, D.C. in May 2005. The microfilm of unrestricted material held by the Archives in Washington remains at The Huntington.

The Huntington Art Collections staff will continue to provide access to the unrestricted microfilm by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 626-405-2234. Before calling, please visit the Smithsonian Archives of American Art website and search their database for the reel numbers of the microfilm you wish to view.
