Hours & Admission

Explore The Chinese Garden during The Huntington's regular hours. Entrance is included with general admission. English and/or Mandarin speaking docents are stationed in the garden daily to answer questions about its features. Times vary according to docent availability.



Chinese Garden Group Tours

Audio Guide Tour

Experience the inspiration behind the garden in this 42-minute walking tour. The garden combines the beauty of nature with the expressiveness of literature to give deeper meaning to the landscape. A walk through Liu Fang Yuan enriches the mind and spirit alike. Download or listen on iTunesU.


Tea House

Open Wednesday through Monday (closed Tuesdays), 12-4 p.m., the Tea House features a number of delicious offerings from aromatic garlic shrimp to barbecue chicken with satay sauce.

Complete menu and other dining options 

Liu Fang Yuan reflects traditional Suzhou-style scholar gardens and features a 1.5-acre lake, a complex of pavilions, a tea house and tea shop, and five stone bridges, set against a wooded backdrop of mature oaks and pines. The initial phase of the garden covers about 5 acres of a planned 12-acre site. View map and audio guide stops.


The Chinese Garden is accessible to visitors with mobility impairments. Wheelchairs are available for use by our guests at no charge at the Visitor Center; please call 626-405-2125 to reserve in advance.
