Using the Library
For more than 80 years The Huntington Library has collected rare books, manuscripts, maps, photographs and other textual and graphic materials important for the study of British and American history and literature, the history of science and technology, and the history of the book. The Library provides access to these materials in its reading rooms, where they may be studied by qualified scholars, known as readers. Hours of OperationThe Library is open to holders of current readers' cards Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Library is closed on the following days: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
Reader Services Department
The Reader Services Department manages applications for reading privileges and is responsible for registration and orientation to the Library. For information concerning the use of the library, please visit Admission to the Research Library, Information for Readers or email readerregistration@huntington.org.
The Reader Services department also provides reference services and manages the reference collection. General bibliographical inquiries, questions on specific Library holdings, and reference questions pertinent to materials held by the Library may be directed to libraryinfo@huntington.org.
