Echinopsis 'Barcarole' Flower fragrant, to 4-½ inches (11 cm) across. Petals oblanceolate, in two whorls, subequal, crinkled at sides, inners delicately bicolored pastel purplish-pink and pinkish-orange. Outer petals with dark pinkish-purple midstripe. Throat-circle pink to purplish-pink. Outer stamens forming a broad circle, anthers large, puffy, cream colored, filaments light pinkish-orange. Stigma white. Flowers fragrant. Stem semicolumnar, to nearly 3-¼ inches (8 cm) in diameter; all spines minute. The name alludes to the Barcarole aria—a Venetian boat song—from Jacques Offenbach's opera, Les Contes d'Hoffmann.
