Echinopsis ‘Cabaret’

Echinopsis ‘Cabaret’

Echinopsis ‘Cabaret’ (1255-8). Flower beautifully symmetrical in form, to 5 inches (13 cm) across. Petals usually narrow and numerous, inners prominently bicolored dark, veiny magenta and orange, outer petals and sepals projecting beyond more interior petals, slightly paler. Anthers large and puffy, filaments dark magenta. Throat-circle pink. Stem semicolumnar, to nearly 3-1/4 inches (8 cm) in diameter; central spines to 1-1/8 inches (29 mm) long.

‘Cabaret’ is a gorgeous and dependable flowering hybrid. The flower takes on a gorgeous, brooding, dark cast when opening partially at cool temperatures, the horizontally displayed sepals enhancing the flower’s starlike appearance, and when opening fully at higher temperatures, the flower's attractive bicolored state becomes more obvious as it assumes its splendid form. For some reason the flower made me think of the movie "Cabaret". I can't exactly explain why. You'll just have to trust me on this one… What, you don’t!? Some valued customer! ISI 2001-55; HBG 85603. Rooted offsets $7.50.
