Euphorbia razafindratsirae Lavranos

This is a choice miniature in the E. milii group named in honor of the noted Madagascan nurseryman and explorer Alfred Razafindratsira. It forms a dwarf shrublet with horizontally spreading branches and a caudiciform base. The chartreuse to reddish cyathia, similar to those of the related E. hoffstaeteri (ISI 96-38; see photos 4 & 5), are formed during winter dormancy when the plant is leafless. In summer it is partly shrouded by the pubescent, undulate-margined leaves. HBG 94006, from controlled pollination of plants collected in 1999 by A. Razafindratsira at 275 m altitude, Tongobory, Madagascar.  $18.
