This species forms shrubs or small trees to 6 m with soft woody branches from near the base and attractive, palmately-three-lobed leaves. It is the only species of the genus native to Madagascar and is distinct taxonomically—Radcliffe-Smith erected the monotypic subgenus Manihotoides to accommodate it. It is native to the dry forests of SW Madagascar. HBG 75923, plants grown from seed from H Petignat, collected W of La Table, Madagascar. $7.50.
