ISI 2005-25. Haworthia mutica ‘Robert Rodin’.
This is one of the
choicer retuse-leaved haworthias, with compact flattened rosettes of
prominently windowed leaves. While most forms are somewhat glaucous gray-green,
this elegant clone is glossy dark green and is here given a cultivar
name for ease of reference. It offsets slowly so vegetative propagation
is a slow process. Rooted cuts of HBG 73873, received from M Kimnach
in Jan 1989, UCBG 49.1664, received from Robert Rodin (2034) in 1949,
originally from van Heerde’s garden in Springbok, S. Africa. The
species is native to the south in the area W of the Breede River and
S of Swellendam in the southwestern portion of what is now the W Cape.
