ISI 2003-35. Pachypodium cactipes K. Schum.
Note: This appears in the Cactus and Succulent Journal as P. rosulatum var. rosulatum of which P. cactipes is considered a synonym by some.
Pachypodium rosulatum var. rosulatum was offered by the ISI recently (ISI 98-56). P. cactipes may merely represent a southerly form of the P. rosulatum complex but for now it is preferred to recognize it as a distinct
species until further research clarifies its affinities. Its rich green glossy foliage, showy yellow flowers and ease of culture make it one of the more rewarding of the genus. HBG 89156, from controlled pollination of plants collected Dec. 16, 1996, by Röösli & Hoffmann (7796) E of Fort Dauphin, Tolanaro, Madagascar. $7.50.
